"Thailand found 21 new cases of Influenza 2009 in Pattaya

BANGKOK: -- Thailand on Thursday reported 21 new cases of the flu, all of them were discotheque staffs in Pattaya, Thai Public Health Minister Witthaya Kaewparadai said.

Among the 90 samples collected from people who worked in hotel and discotheques in Pattaya, 21 of them were confirmed to be positive to the flu.

The collection of the samples were conducted after two Taiwanese who visited Pattaya were found infected by the flu when they returned home.

"All 21 cases which were found positive to the flu were staffs of a discotheque in Pattaya," he said.

He also referred to a 11-year-old student of a private school who was infected by the flu although he had no record of travelling to a foreign country like other patients.

His school suspended their classes for three days, starting today, to find the source of the flu.

Witthaya said the investigation still continued and still could not find the source.

He added that the ministry is still waiting for lab results of the boy's 13 classmates.

"About 30 teachers of the school are scheduled to return to Bangkok next week from the United States. We will also observe them," he said.

Meanwhile five more cases of the flu were confirmed on Thursday afternoon, one of them was mother of the 11-year-old infected boy.

The mother had no symptom but lab test showed that she was positive to the flu.

Another patient had no record of travelling abroad but he picked up his son who returned from a foreign country at Suvarnabhumi Airport recently.

Two other cases were a man who just returned from Singapore and a woman who visited the US recently.

The fifth was a British man who was on his way to Cambodia and made a transit at Suvarnabhumi Airport. He was found high fever and running nose. He was admitted to a hospital and lab test showed he was infected by the flu."

Those antibacterial medications have NO effect on the H1N1 virus. They may be of some use for side effect infections arising from a weakened immunity system, but they will not eradicate the virus.

This novel (H1N1) influenza virus is sensitive (susceptible) to the neuraminidase inhibitor antiviral medications, zanamivir and oseltamivir. It is resistant to the adamantane antiviral medications, amantadine and rimantadine.

Put 30ml or 2 table spoons of vinegar in a glass of water and drink this every 8 hours! organic apple cider vinegar is best for taste, but, ANY vinegar will work.

This is as I myself and other adult friends have tested and found to be true. If for a small child, I suspect the dose might be reduced in size, perhaps 15 ml to half glass of water or according to weight of person.

BOTH a cold and the flu are virus, this cure works for both! As every person may have small variations in body chemistry it may not be as effective for every person, but as I have personally seen, it works for most people.

Note: If this is taken at the FIRST signs of flu, very early, it can kill it completely. If taken a little late, it will still reduce all symptoms by about 90 percent, both time-wise and severity-wise.

As to why it works I don't care because I am sooo happy to have such a natural cure as well as cheap. My only theory is that many small organisms need a very specific PH (acid) environment to live and vinegar changes it enough to kill them off or weaken them so that the immune system can take care of the rest.

INFLUENZA A(H1N1)

St Gabriel cancels all classes after more students infected by flu

By Pongphon Sarnsamak

The Nation

St Gabriel School in Dusit District on Thursday suspends all classes for a week after five of their students were tested positive to the new strain of the influenza.

The school's administrators announced the decision to suspend all classes from June 12 to 18 through in-house radio in the school on Thursday afternoon.

The school's first patient of the flu was a Grade 6 student who had no record of travelling to a foreign country. The school initially cancelled Grade-6 classes for three days, starting today.

Public Health Ministry collected samples from 13 students who was the boy's classmates.

The decision to close the school for seven days came after four of the 13 students were confirmed of being infected by the flu.

Earlier it was reported that he lab test results of 13 students of a private Bangkok school who were placed under quarantine will be released Thursday afternoon.

The tests on the group were made after one of their classmates tested positive to Influenza A (H1N1) virus. The boy had no record of travelling to a foreign country.

He is the second case of human-to-human transmission in Thailand.

Three classrooms were ordered to close from Wednesday through Saturday for cleaning and disinfecting to prevent the spread of the virus.

Students came to school Thursday wearing sanitary masks. Some parents kept their children home, particularly those of younger ages. Department of Health officials advised teachers and students to protect themselves and handed out pamphlets, sanitary masks and hand wash gel.

The Public Health Ministry has not ordered the school to close as there was no report of further infections, said Deputy Public Health Minister Manit Nopamornbhodi.

However, he said the ministry is expected to meet with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and schools in Bangkok to take further action and to boost preventive measures against the H1N1 virus after the lab results are disclosed Thursday.

Secretary General Bundit Sriputtangul of the Private Education Commission visited the school Thursday morning. He said if there are new infections after the lab test results Thursday, the school is authorised to close immediately.

Be safe everyone!!!

Confirmed cases of swine flu rose to 89, and 30 new suspected victims have been diagnosed with A(H1N1) in Phuket, the Public Health Ministry and other sources said on Friday. Infections have been confirmed in Bangkok, Songkhla, Pattaya and Phuket, said Permanent Secretary for Health Dr Prat Bunyawongwirote. The World Health Organisation on Thursday declared a worldwide pandemic of the flu strain, first found in Mexico. Thai authorities have not raised an official alarm.

But as Dr Prat reported the 89 official infections, authorities in Phuket reported the 30 new cases. Four Phuket tourists, three of them Pakistani nationals, have been quarantined, reported the Phuket Gazette, along with a Thai put into quarantine at a private hospital at the tourist resort.

"Blood samples from 26 Patong nightclub employees were also sent for testing," reported the newspaper. "They reported coughing and flu symptoms after coming into contact with a Hong Kong tourist who came down with swine flu during a stay in Patong."

about the 1918 flu from Wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1918_flu_pandemic

Deadly second wave

The second wave of the 1918 pandemic was much deadlier than the first.

During the first wave, which began in early March, the epidemic resembled typical flu epidemics.

Those at the most risk were the sick and elderly, and younger, healthier people recovered easily.

But in August, when the second wave began in France, Sierra Leone and the United States, the virus had mutated to a much more deadly form.

That is really the problem we are looking at, not the first wave, but the mutations into something unknown and possible very very dangerous.

Maybe its not bad to get it in the first wave ? might make them immune to the second & third waves ?
