The difference - well its just not something i see in my surroundings by female friends and in general when i think of it - maybe because of the water + salad ('im on a diet culture') . When i think of it actually, its really rare i actually see girls really ENJOY food here ?? maybe they enjoy it, but not in that extent, not when im around (and its not because im cooking). ammm diet culture... that's different from health concious, right? intereting... as i saw your six packs (is that yours?... well, let say it's yours)... i'm sure you are trying to control your amount and kind of food... i think most thai girls enjoy eating... even they blame themselves "too fat"... but still eat and try to find the way to lose weight... ie. exercise, taking pills or choosing sliming centers etc. and for those girls (i mean 'gang'), they find it as group activity... no surprise... you can percieve it is such a happiness... for myself, i enjoy eating alone too... but less than with my gang absolutely... Well im different i think, i dont have it the same way with food - for me its an on/off thing, i like good food, i enjoy thai food very much - had some great experiences here last time. But i can easily go into a mode where it matters absolutely nothing for me and treat it only as neccesary fuel to keep you going.But thats through many years of just always having to control your diet, then in the end its just simpler to just go for the nutrition-parameters instead of the gastronomical experience. i got your point... now, i'm thinking about 'life style'...it is the one factor... Ive saw a few examples last time - i mean, thai-women can eat ALOT - and it seems like the world around them dissapears in the joyfull moment of eating tonnes of food when i asked the girl that were in our company, her answer was "i get so happy when im eating". Many Danish lady-friends of mine can eat A LOT also. Some of them eat 6-8 times/day. And you know, Danish food is fattening. I can?t finish a piece of ?ostemad? but I can easily finish a big plate of Som-tam. My friend who is married to a thai, said that it was really something, if i he ex. called her while she was eating she got directly angry at him if he tried to continue the conversation as she werent able to multitask while eating. Could it be because she?s getting tired of him? I have seen many Thais talking on telephone at dinner table. I?m pretty sure that we can multitask while eating. I like to eat too if im hungry, but it just seems its abit more important for thai's ? is it just because the food is so much better or ? I think its abit funny. When I went to a Danish Christmas dinner for the first time, I was surprised (read ?shocked?) to see so much food left over and they threw them away. A 8 kg roasted duck with 7 kg brown potatoes and another 5 kg of rice-pudding could feed every Thai in a Soi. And I didn?t even mention those 4 kg candies and cookies yet. We got the 3 or 4 times a year when we go like crazy - especially xmas time thats one big feast of food where everybody eats alot and gain a billion pounds. And thats a strange tradition really when everybody in January then fill up the gyms allover the country, only to leave them again in february Anyways - oposite to here, you are keeping in good shape so dont worry !
