IThe historical argument is null and void imho. Who cares where someone lived 1000, 2000 or 3000 years ago. sh*t happens, people move, whether forced or voluntary.

If the historical argument was a valid one, then we could kick the English back to various mainland European countries; after all they have been here less than 2000 years!!!

i don't see too many white americans or australians volunteering to f**k off home and leave the country to the natives !!

exactly!! Or English!!!

My point was that a historical claim to a geographical location is not a valid one.

i know !!!!!!!

aside from America and that outher country not even worth mentioning... the english are sort of the natives, back when you could go there by foot which would be around that time we were wearing fur a lot it were the same people coming and going as on mainland Europe, it's the Frisian Dutch and some German tribes who went there later and invented themselves the english language, they didn't need to take it from other natives as far as I know.

so you are saying the English didnt take where they live from native peoples?

The name England comes from the Angles, a Germanic tribe from the Angeln peninsula (Denmark/Germany today) and arrived in the 5ht and 6th centuries.

And other than Klingon, I don't think anyone INVENTS a language!!

English is a West Germanic language and has developed from various languages and dialects including Norse, Norman, Anglo-Frisian and Lower Saxon.

The original language of the natives whose land did not need to be taken from them was Brythonic (Britain) and was a Celtic language.

I think you will find that there was a lot of turbulence then; the Angles decamped as an entire nation and left their former lands empty.

The time of the land bridge between Britain and the mainland will have seen the firt migrations, but those people were not English/Angles and are quite different from them.

:)

Love it.

It's like throwing a scrap of bloody meat to a tank full of piranhas!!!

Iain, give me your honest opinion on the question.

Really. I'd love to hear it.

Neo and Ciaran are going to be children in this thread. That's a given. I'd like a couple of honest opinions, though. It's easy to ignore those two.

No one is "whinging." I enjoy discussions with Iain. He can actually have a civil conversation. You on the other hand are always so deep in y our cups that you can barely type coherently.

I think hatred and mistrust of the Jews goes back much further than this century. The Christians have been hating and persecuting them far longer than the Muslims.

"March 16, 1190: A pogrom in York, England, results in the massacre of up to 500 Jews. Beginning in late 1189, Catholics goaded and envenomed by the coming Crusades In the Holy Land, form roving mobs and rehearse their fanaticism by attacking and murdering Jews. In September 1189, 30 Jews are murdered to mark the coronation of King Richard I the Lionheart. That massacre would prove to be a mere warm-up act for the carnage of March 18 the following year, when Jews are killed by the hundreds in York but also at Lynn, at Stamford fair, and at Norwich. Dozens of Jews commit suicide to avoid being murdered. (New York was not named after England?s York, but rather in honor of the 17th century Duke of York.)"

Of course there are stories like this one from all over Medieval Europe, especially around the time of the various crusades when religious extremism was rampant in most European countries.

To many Christians, the Jews will always be seen as the betrayer and killer of Christ.

For Muslims, although much of the modern hatred is based on the land grabs, and despite in many regions the two religions managing to live in peace, I do think the hatred goes back to the days of Muhammed himself.

According to islamic legend/history, Jewish tribes in exile not only breached agreements and treaties, but in some cases plotted to kill Muhammed himself.

So, you can almost imagine a Muslim and a Christian sitting together a thousand years ago discussing these pesky b*stards who seem to keep killing or trying to kill their respective prophets!!

Of course, much of the modern hatred is based on the expulsion and persecution of the Palestinians.

There is a unity within Islam (and yes, I appreciate there are the different sects such as Sunni and Shi'ite) but there is still a foundation of shared faith not seen as much in Christianity. What does not help the situation over the last decade or three are the twisted mullahs and self serving 'freedom fighters' who distort the Koran and instil and ferment hatred amongst the young.

But while you are right to say there is not only a tiny percent who hate the Jews, I would say that it is not a majority who HATE. Mistrust certainly, dislike, almost definitely, but there are many Muslims who want a peaceful solution to Palestine, and there are many who are willing to recognise Israel's right to exist if Israel will do the same for Palestine, and without the ludicrous conditions Netanhayu suggested the other day.

The historical argument is null and void imho. Who cares where someone lived 1000, 2000 or 3000 years ago. sh*t happens, people move, whether forced or voluntary.

I can see all of that and agree with much of it. It's always struck me as curious. I was really surprised at the level of anger expressed by Afghanis towards Israel. They really have no dog in that fight other than the fact that the Arabs are Muslim as well. Yet, quite a few with whom I have spoken also have a healthy distrust of the Arabs as well.

I actually had one guy ask me in a serious manner if the Jews in Israel really drank the blood or Arab children. I just started laughing. It's a strange world.

It would be like Eskimos in Alaska hating Swedes simply because they are Christians.

Innuit people don't hate Swedes!!!

I know it gets boring in the Stan but do you have to keep on with the same old pet issues in every thread just so you can yet again have the same old arguements?

Beej, I don't think it's a tiny %.

.

So out of the BILLIONS of Muslims in the world, in your educated opinion, what % would you say HATE all Jews?

I'd have no idea.

I don't know if hate was the correct word. I met a gal from Iran who stated that it's all conjured by the Mullahs/Politicians (as if there were a difference) to keep the people focused outward. In this way, the people will not look at their own situations and see all that is wrong at home.

It's a valid point.

Politicians in Europe and America use this same strategy.

I would say that hatred/distrust of Israel/Jews has been systematically sewn by the Mullahs at least since the 30s.

So I would say that it is a deep seated emotion amongst the Muslim peoples. If you can't see it, you can't see it. I see it any time that I travel through the Middle East and here in Afghanistan.

Guys it's simply a conversation. Same thing as with LG, you have two choices. See it as such and join in or opt out. Of course, you have the Ciaran option. Get all angry and start cursing incoherently.

LG, look past your grudge and just talk. It's not that difficult. Answer the question or do not answer it. It's a simple choice..

Dave, there is no grudge and I obviously chose not to answer as it is a boring subject that has been done to death already by you, hence my comment.

Your modis operandi is to post these seemingly open but loaded questions so you can have yet another round of an endless debate. Deja Vu.

But hey good luck. :)

I think the Jewish- Arab thing goes back thousands of years with modern political and religious types supporting the conflict for their agendas. As far as how many I would think it depends where the muslims live and what status or style they are living. Living in the US you would think all whites are down on blacks depending who your hanging out with. And blacks against whites also. Indians definitely have an attitude towards whites for obvious reasons but again education and status changes things. People who are struggling tend to hang on to the prejudice and many rise above. All my opinion of course.

sweety pack the gun the A-rabs are coming.

I think JD has a valid point. Even if its 20% its still a strange phenomenon for Asian Muslims to hate people they never met.

I experienced it 1st hand.

The ignorant, illiterate, uneducated and destitute Muslim theory.

Kind of flies in the face of what is known about many of the Terrorists. Well educated--in the West. Many educated in America no less. Others in France, Britain and other parts of Europe.

I don't know. I'm sure that the average villager out there whose Mullah tells him that such and such is bad believes it with all his illiterate heart.

Osama bin Laden was educated. Jeddah University, I think.

The founder of al Jihad. I forget his name. He was/is a doctor.

The founder of the Muslim Brotherhood. Qutb was educated in the US. Lived there at least 4 years. Many volunteers for the Jihad in Afghanistan against the Russians were college students and graduates of US and European Universities.

The illiterate theory doesn't hold.

I knew met a Muslim gal in Egypt. A Doctor. Well educated. About a year after I met her, she donned the hijab and went over totally. Educated and absolutely HATED Israel. And hate is definitely not the wrong word in this instance.

It's so strange to me. Regardless of what my stalkers think, I do not hate Muslims. I abhor their religion. In the same manner that my stalkers abhor Christianity. I have no use for that religion either, but, while it tends to bend towards intolerance, it rarely lists towards full blown hate. Not in this age.

Don't get me wrong. I'd like to kill every last terrorist son of a ***** out there. But the people who mean me no harm and aren't hell bent on converting the world through the greater or lesser jihad....I got no prob with 'em.

There is a level of indoctrination of the masses in Islam that is eerily similar to the Communists. It's strikingly similar.

I'm certain that this will be shouted down by the folks who say that they don't care. The liberals and what not and I'm certain that they'll call me a bigot. blah blah blah and one will curse at me and call me a ******* this or that. But this is my experience in the Muslim world.

what's the difference between Basil Brush and an arab with a rucksack?

an arab only goes boom once...

Right after the US and A invaded Iraq, a arab looking boy thought it would be funny to throw his rucksack next to a cafe shout "I the name of Allah" (in german).

"it was a bad idea"... he told the media after he woke up in the hospital.

I try to avoid buying into this "Americans are stupid" stereotype but, for f*ck's sake, sometimes it is hard not to. Apparently one of the questions FBI Interrogators ask al Qaeda suspects is, "Have you ever successfully carried out a suicide bombing?"

Look at the repos and demos with different idealogies in the US. I have met many supposedly intellectual bigots. People can twist the world to suit any agenda.
