u met someone at events a couple times, and he or she might talking about looking for a partner or something, that make you awkward and u might have said something like :

How about in the next 2 or 4 years if you & me still single, we shall talk about relationship.

is it rude to say so? coz i'm not native speaker i don't really sure if this appropriated to say, and if it rude, how rude is it? in stead of saying so there is any alternative word?

err.. i'm not sure if it's rude or not, but i'd feel quite weird if someone talks to me about this.. i mean especially we're not seeing each other..

cant you change the topic of the conversation? like toward the food, the weather, movies or even shoes.. men would just give up if you talk about fashion, well it works for me ...

I agree with what said earlier...not directly rude, but a bit weird. With 'not directly' I mean that it's almost the same as saying 'you're not good enough for me by now, but if I can't find anyone during the next 2-4 years, I might ask you again'

...if said with a wink in your eyes it could be meant as a harmless joke, if said in a serious way...then maybe, weird... :-)

think it's more acceptable when 2 people are really good friends and single and make some sort of pact that if they reach a certain age they will get together. Dont know if it will work as well with 2 relative strangers. Why not just ask for date??

not interested means not interested..i mean..why spending more minutes to say the whole sentense when you can just say 'no, thanks' in 3 seconds and that will be about it
