This one doesn't have any pictures of the city, just an interesting connection between the past and the present. A strange nostalgia of sorts. My grandmas apartment hasn't changed since I first remember it. They were the first to move in there 50 years ago when the building was new, and will probably stay there till it's rendered unlivable. The first thing that's cool about it is on the kitchen  door there are posters that precede my birth. They are all movie stars and famous people of the Soviet times that only my grandma would know.DSCI1836.JPG There's an old coo-coo clock that is as old as... well i dunno it's flipping old.DSCI1837.JPGThats my Grandma :) She just turned 81,DSCI1840.JPGThat's her and my uncle: DSCI1846.JPGThis is a Russian special heat lamp that supposed to help you cure your cold.

DSCI1849%21.JPG After I went to meet some of the guys I went to school with. I left when I was 10 but I knew then since I was 2... So it was a really interesting to see them again after soo many years. One is a banker, one is a web designer and one is a cop. Who would have known? They are the 3 guys facing the camera. I am in the back if you cant tell.DSCI1855%21.JPG I found some old pics of us together this one is from 84, all 4 of us are in there see if you can spot :)%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B8%D1%80%D0%This one is a bit later:%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B8%D1%80%D0%And thats your give away photo:%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B8%D1%80%D0% I am moody today for no apparent reason... otherwise I'd write more. Enjoy.

Interesting to see the YCCP on the school plaque - I can remember thinking we'd never see the end of the Sovyetski Soyuz and now it too is part of the 'dustbin of history.'

Your gram's house is nice - I'll bet she is happy to see you.

I bought and now live in my grandmother's house. She bought it in 1939 and my mother lived here as a child. I haven't changed much of the house because it's just me here so most parts still look like a granny's house!

Thank you for the great journal.

@Fujico -. It's not a stupid question at all. Borsht and pirogi are part of everyday diet. Very much like som tam and pad ka pow are part of Thai. I don't think they have it too much at restaurants here, it's more of a home food, most Russians/Ukrainians eat at home.

@newyork - thanks! and you should upload photos! and ill see you there in 1 week.

@nid - yes they always wore these giant bows on their heads it was hilarious.
