Updating my life in UK - Part I
It's been 11 days in the UK. I still haven't been doing much except from going to supermarkets. My bf has been busy and it's been raining so I haven't been doing much. I am so used to BKK that if it rains, then I'll do something the next day. Here my bf said life must go on, no matter what the weather is like. Tomorrow seems to be a good day since there'll be no rain, according to the weather forecast. It's gonna be very cold, but I guess that's better than rain. I think I'll have to start doing something on my own, or I'll be stuck at home. Will start looking for some evening classes that I can attend, just so that I can occupy myself with something. I've been looking at salsa class, spanish class and something... it might keep me here longer!I've been eating out a couple of times since I'm here. I'd say the food was not impressive over here. It's so not the same eating out here, coz it's very expensive and doesn't taste any good. My bf took me to a Thai restaurant last night because it was Loy Krathong. First time ever eating in a Thai restaurant overseas, the conclusion is it's NOT worth it. I have better food with the spices from Lobo packets! Been watching some programs on TV as well. One of my most favorite at the moment is "The World's Strictest Parents". It's quite scary to see how disrespectful, and careless British teenagers are. Thai society is moving towards western parenting, western education, etc., we are totally not aware of what might follow. I would hate to see a child growing up and has no respect for adults or even to himself. There were a couple of teenagers on this program saying that they only care about today and don't wanna think about future because it's too stressful. They only care about partying and living on council tax. Although Thailand doesn't have this system for people to totally be lazy, but I think the same way of thinking is starting to show more and more in Thai society now. I'd hate to think what it'd be like if we totally adopt the western way of parenting and education, where children grow up and hardly have any respect for their parents, not doing what they are told, and don't care about their future. One of the boys on the show said that in the UK if one wants to be cool, one has to be a rebel, but where he was sent to, one has to be smart to be cool. It's really true for most Asian countries, and I think it's a much better mentality to have. If you want to be accepted, you have to be smart, you have to be knowledgeable, not being a drug addict or a drunkard. Another shocking part is how cruel and malicious teenagers can be over here. A group of teenager killed a puppy because it was running towards them. A group of teenagers killed a man, because he asked them to give back his gf's hat. Both incidents were killing for no cause, no reason. If there was a financial matter behind it or something else, I wouldn't be so shock. But this is killing for no reason, just for the sake of killing and vindiction. It's scary to see what the world has become. It's getting long already. I'll leave you guys at peace. Take care and enjoy!
