Christmas Stuff

I love Christmas in Thailand....

I love the way Thai people embrace any excuse for a party. I think they do a wonderful job with decorations and costumes. I like seeing promotion girls wearing little santa outfits or reindeer antlers. I like hearing mobile phones ringing with Christmas carols and 'Jingle Bells'. I like seeing palm trees with fake snow and baubles on.

It makes me a little homesick for snow and family - but thank you Thailand for being so much fun.

christmas music drives me insane and I avoid it wherever possible

im w u on that one

only christmas song i like is "fairy tale of new york" .... RIP kristy mccoll

i see in the news her family has given up the fight to bring to justice the guy who was responsible for her death .... one of the richest men in mexico !!

a hired hand on the speedboat ended up getting fined around $100 for killing her, even though it was widely believed he wasn't actually driving the boat !!!

Exactly! The one outside Central went up in the middle of the 1st week of Nov as well. And they all leave the Xmas decorations up until after the NY.

Which means, that in a Buddhist country with about 2% christians there are bloody Xmas decorations up for one 6th of the year!!!

When I first came to Thailand for a year as a young tacker in 1978 and Xmas came around I remember I asked my mum why the Thai kids didn't get presents for Xmas. I felt sorry for the thai kids not getting any pressies. Of course I knew nothing about Thailand or Buddhism and just assumed that kids all around the world celebrated Xmas.

Now I feel even more sorry for Thai kids having to be exposed to all the jingonistic commercial crap.
