BTS safety?

for some reason, when people push a trolley around a supermarket or wander in shopping centres, they turn into brainless, vague morons.

Similarly, when many people are on a bts platform (esp in peak hours), they become brainless selfish, pushy deadshits.

Never figured out why. It just is.

From what i hear, this person was a victim of this.

On the first picture with 4 frames, time code is 07:38:35, 07:38:35 07:38:36 and 07:38:38....

looks like 1 frame per second...

on the 2nd picture between the first and second frame is a 2,5 minute gap, between frame 2 and 3 is 3,5 minute gap, and picture 3 and 4 another 3,5 minute gap.....

are the "real" pictures not released? cause the frames in the pictures have to be photoshopped to explain the gaps...

for a strange reason i took bts this morning and arrived up at platform just as train arrived but I got telephone call from staff and decided to take a moment take call and wait for next train. it never came. the announcements were " the silom line will have delays". then they were " the silom line will have significant delays sorry". then they were "the delays will be 30 minutes."

I was standing on Sukumvit line 1 stop from Mor Chit. and it took them 20 minutes to tell us there would be delays of 30 minutes. this is sh*t. I knew these people did not know what they were doing and went down to get taxi and made my 8:20 appointment on time because I know Thai managers are idiots.

I always found the BTS to be very safe.

There's always the annoying whistle-blowing security guard if you stand on the yellow line, even if the train is nowhere in sight.

One of my favourite games is wearing sunglasses and looking at the security guard out of the corner of my eye... I wander onto the line... he grabs his whistle... but before he can blow, I innocently step off the line... he lowers the whistle... I casually step back on the line... he picks it up again.

I can play this game until the train arrives.

1. as birdtongchai's comment.

2. How come those pictures released to the public??? Mai kaaw jai!

P'Nicky, that news was from The Nation SMS kha... I think the reliable...

I deleted SMS already, I could remember it said (in Thai)... BTS stopped their service for a while cuz a woman fell over to into the BTS trail.

Believe it or not...

I know you can read Thai excepted Birdthongchai.

I don't know how they got these pics.

Something similar happened on the London Underground a few years back. There was a mentally ill person standing at the back of the platform, as the train came in, he ran and pushed another person onto the tracks. The CCTV was shown on the news, sadly, the person on the underground wasnt as fortunate as this person.

I do not think it's sick these pics are published. You see many clips people survived from something like this. If you remember video clips that a baby carriage fell into railway, the luckiest man on earth survived running over by a bus accident. etc.

This woman was not pushed, pulled or dead when she gave an interview to news station. May be she has bad knees, who knows. it's just a reminder to be careful.

So be careful, people, TF needs you.

Sick to publish this kind of stuff. Leaked, or not. Thais seem to have some sort of higher than normal interest in this kind of stuff.

Errrr...what's so sick about it? You get the same injury if you trip and fall down a few stairs.

The stairs are funny, but this one is just miraculous that she survived. The worst this can do is create awareness for people to be careful and notice their surroundings.

Had she died...then yes, out of respect one shouldn't post the last seconds of her life. But she made it, thank God.

Agree with you Rob and also Tonia.

I didn't post these pics cuz i like this kinda stuff... but i wanna show you it can happen to everyone who are in that place.

As I said I was there, the first person in the row at BTS Siam square, not a meter from the trail to the yellow line... how risk it is... if i faint?.. if someone push me by accident? If i had bad knee like this woman? It can happen.

Actually, for BTS I think using security isn't enough. They are human, Human errors... why don't they make door like MRT. I quite like that idea.

It looks more safety at the moment train stop, the doors open. plus they have staff walk back and force before the train come.

even if there is no train, it still is dangerous because of the high electical voltage on the rails..

It's only the third rail, but true...wouldn't want to pee on it or anything.

I don't get how she was leaning over and looking to see a train that was 10 meters away.

From the pictures it doesn't look like she started over the yellow line, so I can imagine it being quite difficult to just fall like that.

meh...anything is possible.

Not really sure what all the fuss is about as this happens time to time in any metro in the world where there are not platform doors (such as the MRT). I am surprised that more drunks do not end up on the lines as it is not uncommon in some places.Thankfully there has not been too many suicides on the BTS either.

In fact, if you were going to fall onto/into a metro line at a station anywhere in the world then the BTS line is a good one to so as it has such a deep section between the elevated tracks - much more so than many other metros. It is so deep you could comfortably take your whole thai family down there (Note to children: don't try that kiddies!).

The BTS third rail is not really a concern as it is located in the middle of both lines and it is covered so one would really have to try to get electrocuted to connected with the 3rd rail. One would have to pee unpside down.

FYI, the BTSC does have plans to install platform doors in the future starting with the heavy usuage stations but they really wont have the money for a few years with their huge debt and we are still awaiting the first of the 11 new 4 car rolling stock which they have to make ongoing payments.
