Mazzy
This is a top 10 list of artists who just don't know when to quit and should stop making records from MSN... Any reactions? have they go this right? any suggestiond for additions to the list...? (My comments next to each artists in the list and my suggestions following it) 1- Madonna (Don'r know what she's doing in the list, she's still at the top of her game) 2- The Black Crowes (The question is why did they ever start making music...) 3- The Who (They're still alive!!!? ) 4- Ray Davies 5- Joni Mitchell (Sad) 6- Brian Adams (Agreed!) 7- The Rolling Stones (Well musically they're still doing ok, but visually...) 8- Elton John (Yes! please somebody get him off the stage.) 9- Carly Simon (Another plastic surgery casuality...) 10 Def Lepard (Good call) My suggestions: 11 Rod Stewart (please, please, someone take him off the stage!) 12 Ozzy Osbourne (can't we make a petition to get him institutionalized?) Loburt
This list seems to be confined to, very roughly speaking, one genre and a basic age group. Very biased. If their records are still selling, it means people still want to hear them. So, who cares?

BTW- I agree, the list is very limited in scope and genre, which is why I encourage people to make their own additions.
English_Bob
Why isn't Paul McCartney on the list? Oh and every boy band since 1980. And every soap star/pop singer.

PeeMarc
Mazzy... you surprise me asking "who?" is Ray Davies. Think about The Kinks... 'You really got me'; 'Lola'. Agree the guy is getting on but I believe he still has quite a following. Personally, i'd rather hear him than Ronan-bloody-Keaton ...or any boy band... or any boy band has-been ...anyday

Of course, I know the Kinks, I just didn't know Davies was in them. I guess he wasn't as memorable as a solo act. (I'm not a fan of Keaton either). Hobbes
- Cliff Richard (even though he keeps single-handedly a secial field of surgery in business...) - Metallica (just overdose and be done with it...) - Udo Lindenberg (the retirement age has been agreed for a reason...) - Motley Crue (they were shite back then and it hasn't got any better...) - Prince (or whatever pseudonym / incarnation / mumification he was formerly known by...) - all those "talent show" test-tube-projectile-vomit-creations - Alice Cooper (you couldn't scare the nappies of Tinkerbell...) - Carla Bruni (...just don't give up the posing nude quite yet...even at your age) - Herbert Groehnemeyer (more like Groehlemeyer...) - Chris De Burgh (every psychopaths dream soundtrack...) - Paul Young (talentless when young and no, the fine vine rule does not apply here) - George Michael (...rumour has it he did the decent thing and retired...) - Dieter Bohlen (one of the deadly plagues cast over us for our sins...I repent...) I do love my music...no, I really do!

tonyP
AC/DC is about to release a new albumn and tour next year! But looking at the Billboard charts, Willie Nelson holds an albumn in the top 20...kind of scary to think there isn't a musician (group or solo) who can knock Willie out of the top 20. And to make matters worse - Motley Crue have an albumn in the top 25... In fact, I can't think of the last time I was impressed with a new band/solo artists since... since... since.... nope! biachung
I suspect music esp hard rock is going through a slight transition at the moment. Bands like Judas priest, def lepard, metallica and ac/dc are all releasing new material but sticking to old school. So many young bands nowadays try to be different but end up all sounding the same. The new generation of listeners are aware of this and are choosing fresh music from old bands, after all they weren't great bands back in the day for nothing. And if they still wanna play...F@#$ it ...let them play
English_Bob
Oh Wait... how about new acts who should stop? Will. I. Am. Seriously, we're gonna look back at this guy and wonder why we listened to his stuff. (PS don't know why I posted twice before... glitch in the system?) That was actually one of his better attempt (which doesn't account to much, I agree). If you're ever feeling suicidal, try listening to his cover of "These Foolish Things" or "The Way You Look Tonight".
Dave40
I think it's rather sad that bands let there songs be used to flog anything from tv's to retail chains!! Oh well just lie back and think of the money coming in!!!! (Sorry off track a little) Ray Davies is a legend!!!

Well in the case of Nickelback, I would say that's a pretty good use of their music. BTW- That's one band that should be added to another list : Bands that should have known better than to get together and start making music in the first place... Stramash
1) James Blunt - just cos he is sh*t 2) Moby - for selling nearly every track he does to advertising men 3) Dido - see reason 1 4) Madonna - or 'Oldfrapp' as she is now known. Move over Madge, you've turned into a right fa**y!! 5) Any and every boyband, past and present (and yup, the Beatles were a boy band!) 6) Paul McCartney - for no other reason than the flipping rog chorus song! 7) David Grey - Look, if US troops are using your songs to torture suspected 'terrorists' at Guntamano, shouldnt you take the hint and retire? 8) Phil Collins - no real reason, just want to see if it gets a response!! 9) Rolling Stones - Look guys you were/are brilliant but you start turning 'rock and roll' into 'semi-paedohilia' when the girls you run off with are no longer young enough to be your daughter, but are young enough to be your grandaughter!! 10) Coldplay + Travis - words cannot describe how annoying these bands' whiny angst driven introspective shoe gazing cack annoys me (apart from those words I just did use to describe how annoying they are)
