Austrian hotel bans Jews

A HOTEL in Austria has outraged local tourism and fellow hotel owners by banning Jewish guests.

The Haus Sonnenhof apartment hotel in the village of Serfaus, Tyrol, is said to have turned away a Jewish family because of "bad experiences" in the past, the daily Tiroler Tageszeitung reports.

The hotel owner allegedly emailed the family and told them although the room was free, she did want to take in Jewish guests.

The Haus Sonnenhof's reaction has angered other hotels in Serfaus, which has become popular with orthodox Jewish tourists in recent years.

"One such incident could destroy all the hard work by others in the travel industry," Hotel Alpenruh-Micheluzzi owner Petra Micheluzzi told the German Press Agency, DPA.

She said this was a view echoed by local and regional tourism officials.

The father of the rejected Jewish family has reportedly shunned the village of Serfaus and taken the family elsewhere to holiday.

"I don't want to spend my vacation in such a racist nest, and I will inform all my friends about what is going on in Tyrol," he told DPA.

i have worked with an orthodox jewish boss long time ago, he was very nice, very cool and generous (which is not common for jewish ppl lmao)......well i guess he's one of the brooklyn cool jew? dunno ...... but i have seen few of his business associates that are like obnoxious, cheap, rude, demanding, and discriminating towards non jewish staff. once a close friend of my boss was commenting about my work "attire" .."why is she wearing pants, and V-neck tops?" lol i was like woahhh first off......look at me...seriously...can you find any jewish in me? ....... im not jewish........and this is america..........calm down already........jeeezzz that was a m.williamson blazer too you know lol

anyways.....my point is not all of them are that way.....but a good numbers of them are, it's their belief, religion etc ..sometimes it does gives other good jews a bad name. few of my friends are jewish (1st generation american) but they are very cool as well as their parent (mostly israeli, polish, russian etc) esp my friend jana who's adam sandler's close cousin.....they are very cool ppl.....ohhhhh i need to fwrd this article to jana lmao

and trust me jews TALK and they will tell all their friends and family or whom ever they come across about this..............they live all over the world but trust me you never know if they belief/follow the same rabbi ....im serious there are jews every where but they have very tight circle.

oh well at least l got my freedom to go and stay where l wish and l love it.

But l think it's only expressing their opinions about a certain race of people and that's freedom also.

My ex boss was from a Jewish family and what he said to me on several occasions pin pointing business actions I could not write here.

I've seen it in Nepal too. It's not a religious issue, as most Nepalis are Hindu. The problem, as I understand it, is that countries like Thailand and Nepal are not getting an honest cross-section of the Israeli public. They're getting young Israeli men who have just been released from mandatory military service. They get a decent wad of cash, set out to see the few parts of the world where they're semi-welcome, and thrash hotels and local customs on arrival.

Plenty of establishments banning arabs too, particulary in Pattaya.

Have to give Thais credit for not being discriminatory about who they discriminate against. All foreigners get their fair share of it and should there be no foreigners to discriminate against, they always have their own Thai minorities to pick on.

Thailand is such a tolerant, buddhist society

Yep... We've had this discussion before about which is the 'best' and 'worst' nationality.

I commented that I had never met a badly behaved Israeli, but I have seen the signs banning them and heard horror stories from other travellers and hoteliers.

I'm surprised that it was Hasidic Jews that were banned - I wouldn't have expected a problem there.

Is it illegal to ban a nationality from your hotel? I'd like to think if I work hard enough to own my own business, I could do whatever I liked... including being a racist a**hole.

Im a halfie so I'm half allowed to say it.

Hassids are often *&^%$# pricks. I lived in Hassid area of Brooklyn and dealing with them is a pain in the @$$. They strongly dislike non-jews and halfies or what not and are rude, cheap and dishonest.

A good portion of the Israelis that I have met in Thailand are absolute *&^%$ #$%^&* %$#@#$$^.

Even when I went to Israel, I was very close drop kicking some obnoxious cat more than once - keep this is mind I haven't been in a fight in almost a decade.

On the other hand many Jews are lovely people... But the ones that are BAD are unbearable.

Personally, I think it's an Islamic plot to take over Austria? They couldn't take Vienna the first three or four times. They'll get it this time by denying tourists at hostels.

DaMn tHEM aLL To HeLL!!!

I also have found that Canadians are amongst the politest, friendliest people I have ever met. Much more than the English (who have the reputation).

In fact when I finally met a Canadian a**hole, I found it difficult to believe his nationality.

(He more than makes up for every other Canadian who isn't an a**hole... incidentally, he was the guy in the 'Punch-Up-In-Ol'-Nana-Plaza' story from a previous forum).
