Prisoner Murders Girlfriend During Conjugal Visit - Spiegel Online International

Klaus-Dieter H., 50, who had been in jail for 19 years for raping and beating to death a nine-year-old girl, had been regularly allowed to have unsupervised meetings in jail with a 46-year-old single mother he had got to know five years ago. She had written him letters in the jail in Remscheid, in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, and they had fallen in love.

Soon after they met, they applied for permission to have conjugal visits in what prisoners called the "love cell," and received permission. "The two wanted to stay together after his release, that's why we allowed the visits without supervision -- so that the relationship would have a chance," prison director Katja Grafweg told a news conference.

The woman visited Klaus-Dieter H. shortly after 9 a.m. on Sunday morning. As usual, they were permitted to spend six hours together without supervision. When prison guards unlocked the cell after the time was up, a horrific scene awaited them: The woman was lying dead on the floor, half-naked, with a fractured skull, four stab wounds in the chest and strangulation marks on her neck.

prison officials said "'We Didn't Think He Was Capable of That'

WTF? didn't they read his rap sheet...

Woman becomes first person banned from EVERY pub and club in the country - Mail Online

A woman has become the first person to be banned from buying or drinking alcohol anywhere in England and Wales.

Laura Hall, 20, was issued with a Drinking Banning Order - nicknamed Booze Asbos - which bars her from entering any pub, club, off-licence or bar.

The two-year order also bans Hall from buying alcohol at any other establishment or shop, carrying it in an unsealed container or drinking it in a public place. Police applied to magistrates after Hall was convicted of breaching an Asbo imposed for drink-related anti-social behaviour.

She has been convicted of a series of public order offences, and had flouted bans from pubs and clubs through local Pub-Watch schemes in her home town of Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.

"Police: Man purposely vomited on Phillies fan, daughter

A New Jersey man was jailed after he intentionally vomited on an off-duty police captain and his 11-year-old daughter in the stands during a Phillies game, police said.

Matthew Clemmens, 21, of Cherry Hill, N.J., was charged with assault, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and related offenses for the incident at Wednesday night's Phillies-Nationals game. He was being held Friday on $36,000 bail.

Clemmens made himself vomit on an off-duty police captain and his daughter after a companion of Clemmens' was kicked out for unruly behavior, police said.

Clemmens retaliated by vomiting on Michael Vangelo, an off-duty Easton police captain, and his daughter, Philadelphia police spokesman Lt. Frank Vanore said.

"It was the most vile, disgusting thing I've ever seen," Vangelo said Friday. "He has two fingers down his throat, he lunges forward and vomits on myself and my 11-year-old."

Vangelo said he tried to push his children safely behind him, and Clemmens punched him in the face. Four or five fans in the next section rushed to help, Vangelo said. They held him until police arrived - someone punching Clemmens in the face as he tried to break free - and an officer was also hit with vomit, Vanore said.

Clemmens' listed phone number is disconnected."

Brit arrested at 'bestiality farm'

Saturday, 17 April 2010

A British tourist has been arrested in a raid on a farm US investigators claim was used for bestiality

Stephen Clarke, 51, of Peterborough, Cambridge, was detained at the property in Washington state, near the Canadian border, on Wednesday.

Clarke was arrested with convicted cocaine smuggler Douglas Spink, 39, who is believed to have been running the farm.

Whatcom County Sheriff Bill Elfo said when agents searched Spink's home, they found a video of Clarke sexually abusing dogs.

He was charged with animal cruelty and appeared in Whatcom County Superior Court on Thursday.

Dozens of dogs, horses and pet mice were seized, along with what investigators described as thousands of images of bestiality.

Assistant US attorney Susan Roe said Clarke had admitted bestiality activities.

Clarke was arrested on state charges for allegedly abusing the dogs.

Spink calls his operation Exitpoint Stallions. An entry on its website reads "Are we unconventional in our approach to stallion care? Absolutely."

Under Washington law, it is illegal to assist others in engaging in bestiality - and breaking any state law would be a violation of Spink's release, punishable by up to five years in prison.

The Bangkok Post:

Among the firearms and other equipment claimed to have been lost during the clash were nine M16 rifles, 25 Tavor rifles, six anti-aircraft guns, 116 shields, 105 batons and 80 body armour suits.

The army also lost control of six personnel carriers and three high-mobility multi-purpose vehicles when troops abandoned them in the face of angry red shirts.

Ammunition also went missing, including 580 rubber bullet rounds, 600 anti-aircraft rounds and 8,182 M16 rifle rounds.

BP: What on earth were they bringing anti-aircraft guns to the crackdown? You can also see how heavily airmed the amry were.

Seems like the army turned into an arms delivery service!

I'm right in front of Paragon at the moment. Seems quite strange as the road is now basically a parking lot and most major stores across the street are closed as well.

People on the street selling all the red garb that they can pump out, and some others catching naps under the BTS stairways. Never a dull day.

The road accident figures for the Songkran holidays each year, never cease to amaze me.

Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department chief Anucha Mokkhavej said that during the period from Monday to Friday, the death toll from road accidents totalled 257, the number of injured rose to 3,104 while 2,863 road accidents were reported. The overall deaths, injuries and accidents throughout the five days were, however, lower than the same period last year.

Nakhon Si Thammarat recorded the highest number of road accidents at 116 over five days, whereas Nakhon Ratchasima recorded the highest number of fatalities at 17.

In addition, Nakhon Si Thammarat had the highest number of injuries, at 131.

Cookbook pulped after recipe calls for 'salt and black people'

It's a tiny misprint, but an Australian publisher has had to pulp a cookbook after one recipe called for "salt and freshly ground black people" to be added to the dish.

Penguin Group Australia pulped and reprinted about 7,000 copies of "Pasta Bible" after the typographical error was found in the ingredients for spelt tagliatelle with sardines and prosciutto, The Sydney Morning Herald reported Saturday.

"We're mortified that this has become an issue of any kind, and why anyone would be offended, we don't know," head of publishing Bob Sessions was quoted as saying.

Penguin said almost every one of the more than 150 recipes in the book called for salt and freshly ground black pepper but a misprint occurred on just one page, probably as a result of a computer's spellchecker programme.

"When it comes to the proofreader, of course they should have picked it up, but proofreading a cookbook is an extremely difficult task. I find that quite forgivable," Sessions said.

He said it would be extremely hard to recall the stock but if anyone complained about the "silly mistake" they would be given the new version.

Carlsberg workers end strike over cut beer rations

Employees at a Carlsberg warehouse on the outskirts of Copenhagen returned to work Monday, ending a five-day strike over a decision to cut their daily ration of free beer, their union said.

Some 200 warehouse workers in Hoeje Taastrup had walked off the job last Wednesday after their daily beer ration was cut from three bottles to one.

Around 50 drivers for the brewery had joined the work action in solidarity with their thirsty colleagues.

"We have agreed with management that we will meet very soon to find a temporary solution while waiting for a legal settlement of the matter," 3F union delegate Michael Christensen said in a statement on the union's website.

The strike had "disrupted beer deliveries to the Zealand island," Carlsburg's communications director Jens Bekke told AFP.

Carlsberg, the world's fourth largest brewer, on April 1 introduced "a new policy on alcohol consumption in the workplace and now only authorises drinking beer in the canteen during the lunch hour," he said.

Now, "only drivers are exceptionally allowed three beers a day and the warehouse workers wanted the same privilege, but were not given it," Bekke explained.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, while free beer at work sounds great, surely there are some health and safety issues in the whole 'dangerous machinery and beer' scenario? Not to mention that the drivers were allowed 3 bottles each per day!!!

So far this year we’ve had 6 Earthquakes with magnitude of 7.0 and up! Now we have the Iceland volcano that has shut down most of air travel in Europe.

WTF is next?

WW III

World Peace?

Nice thought, but good f*cking luck with that.

Scientists say because of global warming, they expect the world's oceans to rise four and a half feet. The scientists say this can mean only one thing: 3/5's of the cast of Little People Big World is going to drown.

a truly WTF moment...

Drug smuggler arrested in bestiality case in Washington

SEATTLE — A convicted cocaine smuggler has been arrested for running what authorities say appears to be a bestiality farm in Washington state in which visitors could engage in all sorts of twisted sex acts with animals.

Douglas Spink was arrested at his ramshackle, heavily wooded compound near the Canadian border in Whatcom County along with a 51-year-old tourist from Great Britain who is accused of having sex with three dogs.

Dozens of dogs, horses and pet mice were seized, along with what investigators described as thousands of images of bestiality and apparent child pornography. The mice were euthanized, said Whatcom County Sheriff Bill Elfo, whose office assisted federal agents in the case.

"This stuff is just truly bizarre," he said. "These were mice that had their tails cut off, they were smothered in Vaseline and they had string tied around them."

It wasn't immediately clear whether other zoophilic tourists had been to Spink's farm, but Assistant U.S. Attorney Susan Roe said Friday, "I expect there may have been other people visiting the property."

Spink has not been charged with any bestiality or child porn charges at this point, only with violating the terms of his supervised release. Stephen Clarke of Peterborough, England, was arrested on state charges for allegedly abusing the dogs.

Spink's lawyer, Howard Phillips, insisted there's no evidence his client violated the terms of his release. "There's no hard evidence he's been engaging in bestiality at all," Phillips said.

Spink, who has a history of training and breeding dogs and horses, appeared in U.S. District Court in Seattle on Friday and was ordered detained pending another hearing, set for April 30. He calls his operation Exitpoint Stallions Limitee and expounds at length on its Web site about his philosophy.

"Are we unconventional in our approach to stallion care? Absolutely," he writes.

He later adds: "We don't wall off sexual energy in our stallions as something dangerous or inappropriate, but rather channel that energy towards positive, safe, appropriate paths. There's a proper time and place for it, and we work towards those sorts of skills rather than fighting un-winnable fights against deeply-rooted instincts."

Spink, 39, made a fortune in Oregon buying and selling small companies in the 1990s and was known as an adrenaline junkie, listing rockclimbing and base-jumping off cliffs, radio towers and bridges among his hobbies.

But by 2002 his wealth had evaporated. He filed for bankruptcy as creditors sought millions from him, and he began running cocaine and marijuana across the border for a local drug kingpin.

Spink was arrested in 2005 after investigators pulled him over with a load of nearly 375 pounds of cocaine, valued at $34 million. He was given a lenient, three-year sentence because of his extensive cooperation with investigators.

Since then, he has been on a five-year term of supervised release, during which time he must abide by all state, local and federal laws.

Under Washington law, it's illegal to assist others in engaging in bestiality — and breaking any state law would be a violation of Spink's release, punishable by up to five years in prison.

Authorities searched his farm Wednesday after prosecutors received a tip from a public defender's office in Tennessee. The office reported that Spink had been calling them incessantly about a jailed defendant in a bestiality case in Tennessee.

That man, James Michael Tait, had previously admitted filming a man having sex with a horse in Enumclaw, Wash., in 2005. The man Tait filmed died of internal injuries suffered during the incident. He received a minor sentence in the case because Washington had relatively weak bestiality laws at the time.

It's not immediately clear why Spink was calling Tennessee about the Tait case.

When agents searched Spink's home, they found a video of a man sexually abusing dogs — and that man, Clarke, was still on the property, wearing the same clothes as in the video, Elfo said. He was charged with animal cruelty and made an initial appearance in Whatcom County Superior Court on Thursday.

Clarke was given a court-appointed defense lawyer for that appearance only and otherwise does not yet have an attorney.

Roe said Friday that Clarke had admitted his involvement to investigators.

Iranian cleric: Promiscuous women cause quakes

"BEIRUT – A senior Iranian cleric says women who wear immodest clothing and behave promiscuously are to blame for earthquakes.

Iran is one of the world's most earthquake-prone countries, and the cleric's unusual explanation for why the earth shakes follows a prediction by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad that a quake is certain to hit Tehran and that many of its 12 million inhabitants should relocate.

"Many women who do not dress modestly ... lead young men astray, corrupt their chastity and spread adultery in society, which (consequently) increases earthquakes," Hojatoleslam Kazem Sedighi was quoted as saying by Iranian media. Sedighi is Tehran's acting Friday prayer leader.

Women in the Islamic Republic are required by law to cover from head to toe, but many, especially the young, ignore some of the more strict codes and wear tight coats and scarves pulled back that show much of the hair.

"What can we do to avoid being buried under the rubble?" Sedighi asked during a prayer sermon Friday. "There is no other solution but to take refuge in religion and to adapt our lives to Islam's moral codes."

Seismologists have warned for at least two decades that it is likely the sprawling capital will be struck by a catastrophic quake in the near future.

Some experts have even suggested Iran should move its capital to a less seismically active location. Tehran straddles scores of fault lines, including one more than 50 miles (80 kilometers) long, though it has not suffered a major quake since 1830.

In 2003, a powerful earthquake hit the southern city of Bam, killing 31,000 people — about a quarter of that city's population — and destroying its ancient mud-built citadel.

"A divine authority told me to tell the people to make a general repentance. Why? Because calamities threaten us," Sedighi said.

Referring to the violence that followed last June's disputed presidential election, he said, "The political earthquake that occurred was a reaction to some of the actions (that took place). And now, if a natural earthquake hits Tehran, no one will be able to confront such a calamity but God's power, only God's power. ... So let's not disappoint God."

The Iranian government and its security forces have been locked in a bloody battle with a large opposition movement that accuses Ahmadinejad of winning last year's vote by fraud.

Ahmadinejad made his quake prediction two weeks ago but said he could not give an exact date. He acknowledged that he could not order all of Tehran's 12 million people to evacuate. "But provisions have to be made. ... At least 5 million should leave Tehran so it is less crowded," the president said.

Minister of Welfare and Social Security Sadeq Mahsooli said prayers and pleas for forgiveness were the best "formulas to repel earthquakes."

"We cannot invent a system that prevents earthquakes, but God has created this system and that is to avoid sins, to pray, to seek forgiveness, pay alms and self-sacrifice," Mahsooli said."
