drlovelife8
Banning the Burka in France is gaining momentum. 5 million Muslims. Only 2000 wear the burka with a full face veil. Is it wrong or France to take this stance? Is it wrong for the ladies in question to not try to fit in to French culture a bit more? Your thoughts on this interesting topic please. FrancoisP
Now i know why the burka is designed for... Charia just want us to be eyes protected from seeing this kind of pepole: and some stupid muslims also want to use Burka to keep only for them all the other ones... So take a long long time meditation before voting "for" or "against" the burka... Which legal option should be the best??? Up to now i cannot choose He he...

drlovelife8
They banned all religious symblos. Jewish symbols, Buddhist symbols, Christian symbols, Muslim symbols. I hope you were equally disgusted for all religions suffering from this law. The reason I asked about the Burka is that it is gaining momentum in public opinion and the other religion's representatives have not publically said it is an attemp to oppress and discriminate. samy5000
The Burka is a fashion created by bigots determined to subjugate women. All cultures have put women at the bottom rung of their societies. Women deserve an equal chance to show their talents alongside men. We live in an age where repression of women should not be tolerated even for religious zealots. Men who subjugate women are intolerant cowards. They deserve to be scorned by the world at large. Let me get off my soap box. Burkas also make it difficult to tell who a person is. If a man wore one you'd never know it wasn't a woman. Plus there hot as hell. They should be banned ! Unny
For these woman, like the women in Afghanistan and other countries where the rights of girls and women are being stripped away under the pretext of religious piety, feminism is a life and death matter. A spectacular example is the life and near-death of Malalai Joya. She had committed no crime, had set up an orphanage and a health centre, been elected to parliament, but for her affront to the dignity of the new male-dominated institutions, for calling it a sanctuary for "warlords and theocrats" and comparing it to a zoo, she was thrown out of office by a majority vote of parliament, threatened with death, abandoned by the government, forced to move from safe house to safe house. She has survived two assassination attempts. She is also banned from flying. To get to Australia she had to leave home under the all-enveloping burqa - a garment she describes as "disgusting" - travel by van to the Pakistan border, then by another van to a city in Pakistan, then fly to Bangkok, then to Sydney. The journey took almost three days. As the most outspoken woman in Afghanistan, she lives with the constant risk of murder. On April 12 a leading Afghan feminist and member of the regional parliament in Kandahar, Sitara Achakzai, was abducted and then murdered by Taliban gunmen. http://www.global-sisterhood-network.org/content/view/2320/59/

The reason I asked about the Burka is that it is gaining momentum in public opinion and the other religion's representatives have not publically said it is an attemp to oppress and discriminate. It is clearly not to discriminate! It is simply protecting people from themselves and others who just can't coexist with each other. If people were able to respect each other a bit more and in some cases just learn how to move on and let things be these kind of laws wouldn't be necessary. The burka bann is GREAT because you can say what you want but if a woman would have the same options as the next and not having to fear their own f**king family in some cases they would clearly NOT wear them, why is there so much money is cosmetics? People like to be seen, everyone enjoys the fact that other people appreciate their looks and receive compliments even if it makes one feel shy and awkward. But always being forced to hide is horrible, some might actually want to wear it but most of the times they just tell themselves they want to because it is custom. If one believes in freedom, banning a burka (at least for a long while) is a great way to show you want this freedom to apply for everyone. If it is banned long enough and you legalize it in let's say a 100 years, NO ONE would want to wear one out of free will.
drlovelife8
I whole-heartedly agree 100% with you there. If it was banned for a few generations I believe 99% wouldn't wear it. I use the example of ANY non-whabbie ruled country where the almost all burka users come from Whabbie ruled countries.

Trust me, you don't have to keep the French around for that, anything the French can other countries in Europe can do it as well or do better PLUS in most other European countries it is easier to order those things anyway coz they are easier to communicate with

LasseDK
Banning the Burka in France is gaining momentum.5 million Muslims. Only 2000 wear the burka with a full face veil. This doesnt beat denmark. We have had a very heated debate about both scarfs and the burka. The burka issue sparked alot of attention, and actually a group was pointed out to search the population to get an overview of the problem. The report was leaked at first, they managed to count 3 burkas in their 4 month span, when the report was made public, it actual was zero, none, no one. They still want to ban it though, and regulate the use of scarf in alot of areas. Personally i really dislike this debate mostly because it makes alot of ugly voices be heard, especially here in denmark as we have a party which is pretty radical when it comes to muslims, and it would demand a change of our constitution to ban burka's, and really, when we got ZERO i dont feel its neccesary. I think its stepping across a line of our own personal freedom, on the other hand its a symbol of the opposite of personal freedom and in that respect i understand it, i just dont think banning a piece of clothing is the way to solve the problem that we would like to deal with. If we should step across the line, then why not do it fullblown, and then lets ban religion in any form in public & to masses.

Slightly off topic, I used to study with a Danish teacher (female) who wears VERY tight shorts showing her camel-toe in front of the classroom. Give me a teacher with Burka please. On the second thoughts, damn those who bother.
LasseDK
If Pia Kjaesgaard has become Denmark's PM. I shall move to Senegal at once. Dont worry that wont happen, majority still have a brain and i think alot of people are starting to tire of their neverending road towards being not political correct. Slightly off topic, I used to study with a Danish teacher (female) who wears VERY tight shorts showing her camel-toe in front of the classroom. Give me a teacher with Burka please. Slightly disagree here 8) On the second thoughts, damn those who bother. This i agree with. But a burka is a dramatic piece of clothing, but i think its crazy to make laws against it when so few are wearing it, the burka is probably the least of the problems theese women has. But scarfs and stuff, thats too much as alot of women wear theese quite happily and of their own choice, just like Pia Kjærsgaard is wearing her christian cross around her neck. Actually it can make a girl look pretty attractive too.
