what are your hobbies?

With all of Thailands water, fresh and salt, I would recomend fishing. Its a very lazy pastime, you can eat your catch, spend time outdoors in the fresh air, and meditate while soaking a line or two. Fishing can start as passive hobby, and escalate into a dedicated passion.

Good luck on whatever you decide to persue.

Thanks so much kha, it sounds a great thing to do. The last time when i went fishing with my sis, we caught a big fish but with our 2 gal power we could not get that fish from a canel so at that time, we asked others relatives to help us lol but it would be nice if i can go fishing again.

study stock market ummm sound interesting : what about thai SET and TWSE which kind of industry boom in each market? i heard some info but not sure and i am not an expert so if u have studied about SET , can u give me such info?????????. In addition, what the factors do u use when wanna invest in STOCK EXCHANGE MARKET and how do u know the suitable time to invest. Plz kindly enlighten me , i just really curious about this

Since I am a mid to long term investor, I will always say that the time to invest is right now. I won't and can't provide people with short term picks that are reliable.

Thailand's market is different from any market I've ever studied in that "insider information" seems readily available to anyone to wants to spend a bit of time researching and filtering through different companies.

In an earlier post this year I recommended a few stocks from my own research (into other companies' research). My core picks were AJ, MAJOR, and DEMCO.

AJ is now up 21% since that time.

MAJOR is now up 10% since that time.

DEMCO is still chillin, ready to explode (I have over 30% of my portfolio in that stock now).

I'd still buy all three of those even after all this, but I'd put most of my money into AJ and DEMCO. MAJOR "probably" will keep going up, but AJ and DEMCO will probably go up around 60-85% before year's end (don't get mad if you try and fail...I ain't no stock broker).

I look at earnings ratio, future projects, expected profit for each quarter, as well as how much stock management is buying, which is openly available to everyone with an internet connection.

DEMCO has pretty much won some wind projects (the biggest ever attempted in Thailand), so I think that coupled with their gigantic 3G projects/earnings reports will shoot their stock from 4.2 to 6.8 this year. Mark my words...again.

DEMCO will probably win "WIND" projects, not solar.

i still have a few questioions;

1. why do u think that the insider info is quite easily to find for thai SET cause as i know, some period and some set regulation not allow the company including its employee disclose their inside info privately before disclose to SET.

2. Why don't u choose to invest in some energy firm ? is it too steady? or the price is too high???????

3. How do u make sure that the stock u choose to invest in is not the speculate stock?

1.) They disclose all of this publicly in shareholder meetings. For example, in the DEMCO meeting I went to, they were debating about whether they would be getting 10, 15. or 20% profit on their wind project instead of whether or not the gov't was going to award the contract or not. Once it goes "public" that they get these contracts coupled with their Q2 earnings reports, the stock will jump.

2.) I invest in PTT and PTT-AR on short term trades. I've made about 7% so far this year as a result of the Japanese crisis, but I have no idea what I'm doing. I just look at the trends and move. Currently, I have no money in the energy sector (besides wind projects), but that might change this month.

3.) That's the fun of the stock market to be honest. I read the story and do my research. If I believe in the story, I put some money into it, sit back, and watch. I don't believe in any stock 100%.

It's the same as poker. If I get dealt two aces, I know I have a good chance of winning...but I'm still going to watch how it all plays out before celebrating.

and the ironic part about my belief in DEMCO is that I don't believe in wind or solar energy. I think it's all a crock of shit. However, most "respectable" governments are jumping on the band-wagon to be green, and Thailand is going to follow suit, especially after the Japanese nuclear distaster.

I'm all for nuclear power. I think it's the only efficient, clean, and economically sound way forward. However, green energy will be the trend for the next 2-3 decades until people learn how to control the awesomeness of nuclear power.

Partially agree rob, 'cause if ppl operate this kind of energy plant with lack of control, the event like chernobil and in japan will be happened again which all thai ppl can't cope with the consequences. Thus, the gov should choose the energy source with fit for thai ppl ( for me wind , solar and some plant are more suitable than nuclear).

Bit of a double edged sword here. I agree that nuclear has the potential to be the most efficient energy source but that it may take decades to get to the levels of safety and efficiency that is being demanded.

The problem with the natural sources (wind, tidal, solar) seems to be the logistics at the moment; getting the power produced from where it is produced to where it is needed. Scotland is a good example of this; the potential to produced 20-25% of Europe's total energy needs but the logistical nightmare of connecting geographically isolated points to a national and international grid. Things are moving forward; we can now connect to some of the countries bordering the North Sea, thus giving potential 'doorways' to the rest of Europe.

The question is; if these logistical difficulties are solved, will there be a need for nuclear?

... and also going on heritage walking trails with friends (this is one of the few rare things I like doing with friends cos I'm mostly a loner who prefers doing things on my own - crowds and socializing tire me out). I also enjoy museums and puppetry, and going to the seaside. And of course, feeding catfish *wink* :)

But in this time, it will be great if we can meet @big knit cafe'( i heard about that but never visited there) when u r available and i am in bangkok in july or august. So, if u agree to have kniting meet up with me email me kha ( i'll pm my email to u right now)
