Hobbes
I hope I'm wrong, but I think it won't be a high scoring match.United defense has been pretty solid recently... not sure if Ferdinand is back (hope so). I watched the Chelsea Barca match recently and Barca were held back for most of the match... I'm sure Sir Alex has been using that in his strategy. I'm guessing a one-nil victory... and I'm desperately hoping it's United's. (After all, I'm going to have to wake up, watch it and go back to sleep.) Oops, you were wrong. Viva Barca! 8)
CiaranM
bloody hell .... was surprised how easy that was for Barca Iniesta and Xavi just ran the midfield and Messi is a f**king genius !!!!!!!!!! was amazed how easily Utd gave the ball away .... and against Barca it's a long f**king time before u get it back !! well done Barca and unlucky Utd. wasn't a great game, bit too 1 sided for that, but it was a joy to watch football being played the way it should be played ... a great Barca side !! While it was an entertaining game (for Barca fans), I don't understand why he would try to play Barca at their own game. Our defense was sloppy (the shortest man on the pitch able to score a header?), we couldn't get any possession, we lost the ball too easily We were lucky it was only two. (mind you we played pretty well for the first 9 minutes... )
English_Bob
Oops, you were wrong. 8) FYI Sportsmanship is conformance to the rules, spirit, and etiquette of sport.More grandly, it may be considered the ethos of sport. It is interesting that the motivation for sport is often an elusive element. Sportsmanship expresses an aspiration or ethos that the activity will be enjoyed for its own sake, with proper consideration for fairness, ethics, respect, and a sense of fellowship with one's competitors. Being a "good sport" involves being a "good winner" as well as being a "good loser". Even without the Champions League, this is a great Manchester United team. And for all his personality faults, Ronaldo is still one of the best players in the world.

My prediction was wrong too at 2 - 1 for Barca but at least I got the winner right. Nobody would argue that Man U is a half decent team that can beat any team out there on their day. That day just wasn't yesterday though. As for that 'Sportsmanship' quote, you should forward that to Senorita Ronaldo. To my best knowledge he hasn't exhibited any of those qualities mentioned there. But I guess being a fan for most parts makes one blind on one eye.

At home!!! Stevie is awful quiet today, isn't he... thanks for the update Iain obviously i had no idea of the result before posting Romanian minnows embarrass RangersRangers 1 Unirea Urziceni 4 By Nick Harris Rangers fans witnessed a second consecutive four-goal European haul at Ibrox last night but doom not boom was the order of the evening, again. They have not lost this heavily in the Champions League since, errm, the last time they played. But this embarrassment, which only avoided being the day's No 1 continental humiliation because of Barcelona's simultaneous cock-up against Rubin Kazan, was much more dispiriting than the 4-1 home thumping they received at the hands of Seville three weeks ago. First, it was delivered by minnows, albeit managed well by the former Chelsea player, Dan Petrescu. Second, it came after Rangers had gone ahead inside two minutes when Pedro Mendes' shot was deflected in via Ricardo Vilana. Marius Ioan Bilasco equalised in the first half, then own goals from Kyle Lafferty and Lee McCulloch followed in the second half before Pablo Brandan drilled home a fourth for the visitors. Third, the hosts squandered a handful of first-half chances to wrap up the points, including a penalty, missed by Steve Davis shortly before the interval when the score was 1-1. Fourth, the home defending was dire, as Rangers' manager Walter Smith conceded afterwards. On and on the woe could go, but suffice to say that Rangers will struggle now to finish anywhere but rock-bottom of Group G. Seville will win the section, at a canter, while Petrescu's team are in the box seat for second place ahead of Stuttgart. "I'm delighted," Petrescu said. "It wasn't as easy for us as the score suggests; we got some luck with the saved penalty and a deflection for 2-1." The closest he came to any criticism of Rangers was when he voiced his surprise at Smith's one-man attack. Smith admitted: "We lost three goals that you shouldn't be losing at any level of football."But he disagreed that the missed penalty by Davis was the major turning point, adding: "After a good start we really didn't impose ourselves at all... it's very difficult to look at where we might finish in the group now. First, we need to look at ourselves and we need vast improvement." Pre-match intrigue was not limited to tales about the Romanians, who hail from a town of 17,000 people ? the smallest-ever place to have a group-stage team - and only won their league last season after a purge of corrupt referees. Rangers had to solve their own mystery: the whereabouts last week of their Algerian centre-half, Madjid Bougherra, who went AWOL after international duty. Smith eventually accepted he was late because his passport had been stolen during a mobbing in Paris. He was then injured in training on Monday, did not play anyway, and Rangers got mugged without him.
