Red shirts blocking roads on the 31st?

it's actually quite common for thai political protesters to throw feces, although that has not been a tactic of the PAD.

back in 1994 commerce minister uthai pimchaichon was hit in the face with bag full of sh*t by a disgruntled someone or other during a press conference

later became a TRT bigwig, and president of parliament, which shows that having a mouth full of sh*t is not necessarily a deterrent to career advancement in thai politics.

and in 1999 or 2000, rural protesters, organized by TRT, threw bags of urine and feces at government house to show their displeasure with prime minister chuan leekpai's efforts to solve the economic crisis.

or maybe just because they were paid to.

so much for the "noble peasants" of isan.

I guess you just ARE a bag full of sh*t, and no one needs to throw one at you. You just spew like a broken record this same mindless drone CRAP day after day, do you. I mean, geez....Are you for real?

Yes, it is very informative to attach to every posting: "they were paid". And this time "noble isan farmers". Some of his stuff is very informative but this drone crap part that he repeats over and over again, just really boils it over for me. Anyhow...

Looks a bit like this forum is "amuck".

Does anyone know of any true information

on impending protests?

I'm awaiting international shipments.

No. Just follow news and blogs that summarize Thai and foreign language news. :) That is your best bet, the blog field summaries are quite empty currently on this "blocking roads" part, or were this morning when I last time checked. My 2 more or less helpful on topic cents. :)

Iraq: shoes. Thailand: feces UK and USA: cakes

Add your own to the list of political sling weapons.

France -manure(ok that could come within the turd category)/anything British

Britain-the French

Spain-tomatoes

Italians-garbage

Irish-potatoes(assuming there's no ongoing famine:if so -unemployed builders)

too general for the British

should be;

The Scots would throw English people or anything hard at English people

The English would throw the French, or if at an International football match; bottles, bricks, pies, bits of car, sharpened coins, cigarette lighters, or anything hard.

The Welsh would throw sheep (as long as said sheep has passed its sexual peak)

The Irish would definitely be potatoes or empty Guiness glasses.

The Cornish would throw a hissy fit if you call them English; otherwise it would be a pasty.

:D

I'll make the observation that no one has seemingly yet criticised nor condemned the red shirts for engaging in their democractic rights to break the law in blockading parliament and obstructing roads which would be the consistent stance given the previous comments in relation to the PAD for exactly the same tactics.

Why is that?

BTW, fantastic name for the the parliament protests, "Operation Defeat the Hijacking Insurrectors, for Democracy".

The main concerns seem to be about roads around BKK being blocked on the 31st which doesn't make much sense given all the bangkok based rural folk who will be itching to get back home (esp. the drunks ones so anyone attempting to block their departure really does have a death wish).

Blockading arterial routes after the NY would be much more plausiable both tactically and politically.

As for the airports being targetted by the DAAD/red shirts, I'll go out on a safe limb a restate what I said earlier that it would undermine the credibility of the red shirt leaders in their 'moral' stance regarding the previous actions of the PAD. It would also be tantamount to political suicide for any movement at this point in time.

I give it about as much chance as Thailand has of winning the 2010 FIFA World Cup! (which given they did not qualify is .....)

Why is that?

if i recall, most of the harsh criticisms of the yellow clapper clowns were a result of their seizing the airport, not a result of their occupying gov't house. the red clapper clowns haven't done anything like that yet.

maybe it's true, then, that every cloud DOES have a silver lining.

...thank god for that ( sigh of relief )..the airport is safe

.....they would have to be hypocrites if they did.....

..and we all know that nobody involved with any political agenda in any part of the world would never do that.....

...don't we

..(goes back to holding breath)

We are here to have a laugh, have a chuckle, take the piss a bit and talk about all things Thai related.

Only TODAY, have I had members privately ask me why the threads turn to free-for-alls. How they post threads and after a page it's just trash talk and resembles nothing they posted about.

One member even publicly pleaded with you guys to stay on topic so they could get answers to what they wanted. TF is not just the farang-few show. There are now members who don't like to post because they are scared of being flamed. When I get messages like this I have to act.

There is a place in TF for everyone, I know we like to argue on here, so do I but when you have page upon page of who's got the bigger ****, it gets boring pretty quick.

Now, let's all hold hands and sing after 3...1,2,3...Michael row the boat ashore, allejuiah. Michael row the boat ashore, alle-juuuuuuuuuuuiah.... :D

one of the things you'll discover in your new role as moderator is that there is absolutely no way to please everyone, or even a majority. either it will be too "wild," too unfocused, or too cliquish, or too tightly controlled.

it's a fine line because if you keep things too clean and on topic the forum will quickly become bland and uninteresting (it has happened before). if you let things go too much then it becomes nothing but flame wars and bickering (that has happened before too).

out and out flaming is one thing that is worth moderating. even then, seek balance. don't ride herd too heavily or you will become as beloved as our dear Princess was--surely you don't want to go out like that.
