Kung Fu and Kill Bill star David Carradine was found hung in a hotel room in Bangkok on Wednesday, Thai police said. "Kung Fu" and "Kill Bill" star David Carradine was found hung himself in a closet in a hotel room in Bangkok on Wednesday, Thai police said.Police believed he committed suicide.

Carradine, 72, was in Bangkok to shoot a movie and stayed at a Suite Room 352 of the Park Nai Lert Hotel on Wireless Road since June 2. The film crew were aware of his absence when they went to dine out at a restaurant on Sathorn Road on June 3.

Carradine did not show up at the dinner and the team could not reach him. They assumed that he took a rest because of his age. It was a hotel's maid who opened his suite on Thursday at 10 am only to find Carradine in a closet. He was described as behind half naked. Police investigation showed that he hung himself with a rope, the kind that is used with curtains. Police said he was dead for not less than 12 hours and found no sign of fighting and assaults.

Kung Fu Man

Aside from Quentin Tarantino's twopart "Kill Bill" in 200304, Carradine was perhaps best known for his role as the fugitive halfChinese Shaolin monk Kwai Chang Caine in the 1970s easternwestern TV drama "Kung Fu". He also starred in Martin Scorsese's "Boxcar Bertha" in 1972, portrayed folksinger Woody Guthrie in "Bound for Glory" in 1976, acted in Ingmar Bergman's "The Serpent's Egg" in 1977 and costarred with half brothers Keith Carradine and Robert Carradine in the 1980 western "The Long Riders".

His father was the noted actor John Carradine.

In Thai cinemas, Carradine was recently seen as a martialarts guru in the Rob Schneider comedy "Big Stan" and as a perverted elderly Chinese mobster in "Crank: High Voltage" starring Jason Statham.

The Nation.

sheeit. Loved Kung Fu when I was growing up.

My favourite role of Carradine's however, and one I am surprised was not mentioned, was the hero/anti-hero character of Frankenstein in the marvellous Death Race 2000 from 75.

'In The Year 2000 Hit And Run Driving Is No Longer A Felony. It's The National Sport!'

RIP David.

disturbing news.

as much as i'll remember him for his more credible performances and for the iconic "Kung Fu" TV series, where he acted so well that a bunch of whiteys believed he was chinese, i'll remember him more for being able to pull off lines like "what i want to know is, is it an ordinary monster? or some kind of aztec god?" in the movie "Q"--widely regarded as one of the worst movies ever made. Q was terrible, but great entertainment, partly because Carradine played the hard boiled detective with such gravity that it was howlingly funny.

all this would be a lot less disturbing if he'd died of natural causes.

and poignant and ironic quotes from the man;

'You know, I`ve never actually really believed that death is inevitable. I just think it`s a rumor.'

'Why would you be afraid of death? It would be an inconvenience. I have a lot of undone things and it`s bound to get in the way. But, no, it doesn`t scare me at all. '

I suddenly love him when I first saw him in Kill Bill... I was wondering who he was, I think he was as great as Christopher Walken (one of my top 5 favourite actors) and they look alike (to me).

Sad indeed... came here for filming but he ended up commit suicide.. :(

Very eerie!

Earlier today, I made a comment about "grasshopper".

And now he's dead.

Don I thought exactly the same thing having read your journal response to Admin earlier.

Really shocked as I too used to watch the Kung Fu series when I was a young lad.

Saw a movie preview the other day which mentioned him and I had the idea that Carradine would somehow live a long, long fruitful life still kicking young bad dudes in tacky B grade movies.

Another one comes to BKK to end his life or is all not as reported?

There seems to be more to this than meets the eye;

Thai police have told reporters that a hotel maid discovered Carradine's body in a wardrobe with rope around his neck and other parts of his body.

His manager has said he does not believe it is suicide but accidental. Certainly looks a little more complicated than just pure suicide.

that was one bad film but I too loved that line.

I am also a fan of his. I was turning my gf onto kill bills last month and before I could introduce her to him she was saying how she liked him too.

sad news. and such a weird way to go. doesnt anybody want to check out with the big morphine comfort good bye. hanging is painful. especially in a closet with a naked ass.

this quote from the obits

?It?s really funny, you know, Caine versus the West,? Mr. Carradine said in a 1973 interview with The Times. ?And I wanted to develop a whole style of playing him that would be very quietly stylized, satirical, a sort of formal way of moving, the deadpan reading of those far-out lines of his. I mean, I dig Caine, I respect him. I believe what he does, but I wanted to comment on him when I acted him.?

seems to suggest that he knew *exactly* what he was doing in Q...

as to why he died, while condotown's suggestion that Madoff or someone like him made off with his loot is plausible, the way he was trussed up yet not bruised up suggests something really kinky, like strangulation sex, may have been going on...
