Sunday's Project

Recently we added on a roof in the front of the house covering the driveway and a roof at the back covering our Thai style kitchen. There was this patch on the side of the house that was just plain ugly, and it was bothering me for a while.

So today, Jeab and I went out to get whatever we needed to make it look nicer. Here's what it looked like earlier today:

So I got some plants (Jasmine and some red things)...and began digging and planting...

It was starting to get late, and the neighbors kept coming by to watch the farang doing minimum wage work. Telling them that I enjoy getting my hands dirty didn't seem calm their fascination.

Then it was time to lay down the 15 kilogram bricks...

Anyone know what those red ones are called? The guy said they were Singapore Red or something like that...sounds like a new type of ganja.

I bought 15 bags of these white rocks to spread around, but it wasn't nearly enough. Anyway, I spread those around, but still need another 10-15 bags to finish the job. This is my "after" picture.

and...the inspectors...

It's starting to look better...but I still need to add in some more flowers and rocks, and have to have Yoma step on the bricks to make them sink in. Regardless, it's an improvement...I'll sleep well tonight :)

Enjoy your week!

Thanks for the compliments. To be honest, I think it looks ugly at the moment...but it's a huge improvement from the disaster it was 12 hours ago.

Consider it a work in progress...

Oh yeah, I love Jasmine.

Funny, I know 3 people in nonthaburi who have purchased houses and are doing exactly the same thing as you. Looks good Rob esp the white stones and hope you get some vines growing up the wall.

(or weed to make Dr Sassy happy ;) )
