"The Revolution" This will be the decade of the Revolution....

A New World Order begins

Ah not so sure about that...although I do like the Revolution angle if it empowers people and saves the ecosystems.

"A New World Order" has been used for the last 2 decades. We should be able to workshop something a bit better by now....?

Inasmuch as 2012 has been predicted to be so important to mankind, maybe we should consider that in the name for the next decade.

December 21st 2012 has been widely touted as the date of the Apocalypse, and that has been treated by many as the end of the world.

However, the meaning of the word 'apocalypse' in ancient Greek has nothing to do with the end of the world. It means 'an unveiling' or 'revelation' Not for nothing is the Apocalypse placed in the Book of Revelations.

This point in time heralds a moment when mankind is due to realise his true purpose in the Universe. All major religions agree on the one final day - when all will be revealed. The word 'Armageddon' which has come to mean the end of days is likely derived from a Greek phrase meaning 'revelation at the end of an era'.

Let's hope the next decade is one of great enlightenment....

few good points there Dave, though 2012 is really only touted as the apocalypse by hollywood screen writers and conspiracy assholes. Bit off the mark with armageddon though. Its origin is Hebrew not Greek, and it means 'mountain of megiddo'. Megiddo being a location of many battles near Lake Galilee.

Well the years from 1910 - 1919 are generally referred to as being the "war years" and as such were named as a consequence of the "great" war. Maybe English Bob is onto something........perhaps in 100 years time this time will be known as the "apocalyptic years".

Ok I've thought too much today, give me a beer please.

Really?

By who?

Your neighbours?

Your friend Doug from the next town?

Navid in the local convenience store?

Given that the great war was 4 years out of the decade, and given that I have never heard the phrase 'war years' to describe that entire decade (which of course does not preclude that the above named individuals have done so), is this really the case?
