For those of you who have written that cats are sly, unpredictable or whatever and will just scratch your face out of the blue for no reason...

... you just don't understand cats. They aren't toys. They are animals that have moods and feelings like most animals do. And cats are natural born hunters.

i've never seen a cat go wild and give someone a bad scratch without it giving some kind of obvious warning first that it didn't want to be held or touched.

but i have often seen people ignore those warnings and treat the cat like a toy to be touched, cuddled or even thrown around and manhandled at the person's whim.

those are people who usually end up getting scratched or bitten.

dogs have been known to turn on their owners also, so don't say they never do. i've seen it happen.

I always lived in the company of cats. Since I'm so young, I can't even remember. So I was raised with cats and they are my best friends since I'm very little.

When I moved from Canada to Thailand I brought my two cats with me. It was very costly and troublesome, but I just had to do it. I did it and no regrets at all.

I never was a cat person until my sister took me to the Humane Society one day to pet puppies. This little scamp of a cat was tearing out of the room she was in and she marched right up to my sister and started rolling on her feet. We petted this cat and saw that this impossibly skinny malnourished cat had just given birth to a litter... I saw from the sheet that she was a cat from the wild and was 8 months old. I left but could not forget that cat so I finally called back three days later. I asked if she was still available... they said yes but not sure for how long. I was sure they were going to put her down so I called my sister and we went over there right away and I got her.

It has been 14 years and I have not regretted it for one moment. She is loving and sweet and greets visitors who come over and greets me at the door every day. She is also selfish and willful but she is a cat so...

It is the one thing I really miss when I come to Thailand. She stays with a family I know who love her almost as much as I do.

I hope she lives for a long time to come!

Her name is Misha and I love the little girl. :-)

I hate cats with a vengeance. Probably because i am allergic to them.

There's nothing worse when you go to a girls house trying to get laid and she has a cat. It means I have to be nice to this cat when all i want to do is punt it out of the window

dear prince charming:

i hope all your future giks have an aversion to vacuuming, and at least 12 long-haired cats each. enjoy.

or you could always hope they have a dog, so you can step in dog piss and dog **** while you wait for the dog to make sweeeet lovin's to your leg.

Disloyal bastards.

An ex girlfriend left her cat at my place, to ease the pain of her departure  I didn't have a cat flap and this thing came home late, it used to howl like a baby being strangled to get in the door, I tried to get on with it, my mother is an animal lover and decided to visit daily to make sure I was looking after it, basically it screwed with my life every-time it could.

When I eventually dropped it round to my ex the cat looked at me and said **** you with its eyes.

I fed that cat for 6 months, even bought it toys.....

When I buy a dog I am going to get one that eats cats.

Sounds just like my ex gf, so i gave her back to the cat

I love dog but I don't know how i end up with two cats

Cats don't play with me, guess I had to become Catwoman so they would pay attention to me sometime, not only when they're hungry

I have a cat, and he's spoilt rotten. (not to the extent where I let my cat tongue me)

When it gets cold at night he likes to curl up on where its warm. and when you wake up, he'd be lying on my bf's groin.

He'll totally deny it, but its true

LoL..

But I think if you can take care of a cat really well, your that much better with girls.Same thing, constant attention..etc...bring a cat something it likes..it purrs...any different from a girl?..haha.

You are either a cat person or a dog person. I never see ppl making horrible statements about dogs though (i.e. the microwave comment).

Personally, I prefer cats. They are much easier to care for, they are cleaner and dont require constant attention like a 2 year old. They wash themselves and are generally quiet. They dont require walks either (which is nasty business in this town. All those soi dogs)

The trick is to choose a cat with the right personality and to treat it well. Pure bred cats like Himalayan's for example, tend to be snobbish and not particularly fun to be around. Mine is a plain old Thai street cat and she is a joy to be around. She is super friendly and puts up with a load of torture from the dog (dog ppl applaud loudly).

The dog, on the other hand, is a complete moron. This thing yaps and pees all over the place despite training and constant attention. Basically, he is just thick (he belongs to my brother so I take no reponsibility for his lack of training or his lack of dog IQ).

I am a big catlover.

cats are a bigge challenge then dogs,

you can only teach a cat something, you can not teach the cat not to do those things again after it has learned that thing.

A cat will be faithfull when being taken care of and let you know when not happy.

a dog will just follow and do what the Leader says.

maybe coz i don't have a microwave big enough to fit an entire soi dog?

upon observing dogs closely in a feral state (soi dogs) i have to say i have lost a lot of respect for them. they're like rats except louder and not as brave. can't say i'm impressed with the management style of alpha doggies either, i find them rather brutal and authoritarian.

it's gotten interesting though---i've figured out all the local tribes of soi dogs, and even have my allies and enemies. my chief lieutenant is an old guy i've nicknamed 'stinky'. (trust, you don't want to know why). he wasn't too brave until he saw i was willing to back him up, and together we appear to have driven off my nemesis "cowboy" (he has cow markings and is a boy, thus the name). since cowboy appears to have moved on, there's a power vaccuum and stinky and i have to assert ourselves over our 'turf' with the other dog packs. it's like a gangster movie.... almost. the x meets y pitch is probably 'king of new york' meets 'lord of the flies'.

not everyone is necessarily either cat or dog person, i like dogs (except loudmouth ones). i also like cats (again except loudouth ones). i have cats for pets, though. they're low maintenance and thus good for lazy people.

Personally, I prefer cats. They are much easier to care for, they are cleaner and dont require constant attention like a 2 year old. They wash themselves and are generally quiet. They dont require walks either (which is nasty business in this town. All those soi dogs)

yeah i think it all comes down to WHICH cat or WHICH dog. but the knowing where to **** straight out of the box is a big factor innit.

ha. sounds like i'm having better luck convincing stinky not to pee on the cars outside than your brother is with his spoilt housedog.

i have 3 cats, bart is the Best Cat Ever, the other 2 (maggie and lisa) are mere filler.
