PiAnt
It's been a while since I went to the cinema, but yesterday I was persuaded to go and watch Clash of the Titans. I didn't fancy waiting 2 hours for the normal version, so I paid to watch it in 3D. Just in case you think like I did, 3D is some kind of crappy 70's thing all red green and blurry, I have to tell you it was pretty darn good (if mildly uncomfortable wearing the glasses). The 3D effect really does puts a whole new dimension on it so to speak (master of the bleedin' obvious). I'd recommend watching it in 3D. Anyone else seen anything good in 3D? Crustyjuggler
I thought this movie was badly converted for 3d, aspects of the characters and monsters had flat/2d parts to their bodies which made it look really false. Compare that to something like Avatar which was absolutely flawless in 3D.. I believe they used a much better technique but i don't know the tech side of it. I do know the cameras were custom made for the film and super expensive. i do have a favorite quote from Perseus in COTT: "whatever you do, don't look that ***** in the eye" Classic! Neo
Clash of the Titans was shot and post produced in 2D, then the studio decided to jump on the 3D bandwagon and convert the movie to 3D. 2D to 3D conversions can look good (e.g. Alice in Wonderland) but it requires a huge amount of work costing around $100,000 or more per minute of film. Now that Jim Cameron has shown the world how good 3D can be (read: how much money it can make) the studios are trying to find the cheapest way to knock out 3D blockbusters. Is it still on? Are there 3D DVDs available or is special hardware (other than glasses) needed?
digitalcat
they should just hand out booze. drink enough the movie will look 3d. much cheaper then converting 2d to 3d lol
Chatty
Clash of the Titans? I watched it yesterday... Disappointed! I fell asleep at some point... I love 3Ds movies even i have some problem of wearing 3Ds glasses (cuz I have to wear them over my glasses) but this one wasn't as beautiful as my expectation... Lucky me that I got free tickets. If I spent my own money I would be sad.
English_Bob
Piant - there's no other movie to compare with Avatar in 3D... on the huge Imax screen in 3D it was ******* unbelievable. Other producers must have walked out of that movie saying, "What the hell are we gonna do now?" It was crystal clear, very realistic and the attention to detail was incredible. It was like the difference between playing Tetris and then GTA4.
PeeMarc
I'm still amazed the same guy (Sam Worthington) got lead roles in all 3 - Avatar, Clash of Titans and Terminator. Not a bad year for the young Aussie!!
Neo
Avatar has got to be the best live-action 3D film so far (although most of the film is computer generated so it's more animation than live-action). There have been a few other 3D movies over the last few years including.... Ghosts of the Abyss - James Cameron Aliens of the Deep - James Cameron The Ant Bully Polar Express Spy Kids 3-D Final Destination 3D Beowulf Monsters vs Aliens G-Force UP A Christmas Carol How to Train Your Dragon Alice in Wonderland 3D The Jim Cameron IMAX films were shot in 3D, most of the rest is 3D CG. PiAnt
Clash of the Titans? I watched it yesterday... Disappointed! I fell asleep at some point... I'm not commenting on the content, so much as the presentation. It did seem to labour on the big scorpions a bit and I felt very little if any affinity with the characters. For instance those two fighters who interestingly joined the quest were hardly featured at all. I agree, there was a bit of an "Oh. Is that it." feeling at the end. Mind you I was thoroughly impressed with the Thai subtitles standing off the screen. (I'm easily pleased.) Piant - there's no other movie to compare with Avatar in 3D... on the huge Imax screen in 3D it was f*cking unbelievable. Unfortunately, for some reason the imaxthai site won't open so I can't check if it'll be shown again. I'll be right up for seeing another movie in 3D. There was a ghost movie previewed in 3D which looked really good too. Hands coming out to grab you and what have you. Might even rekindle a long lost interest in the cinema. (Though I did think 280 baht was a bit steep. Double and all.)

MisterMatlock
I saw Up in 3D at the cinema. The movie was great, the 3D added very little. Saw Clash of the Titans the other night and a bottle of scotch would have added a lot.
Neo
Once they've gone though mate, how can you watch them again in 3D? And how do they look on your 14 inch portable crt? You can already buy blu-ray 3D players and 3D HD tv's and projectors. Monsters vs Aliens is already out on blu-ray 3D and Avatar is supposed to be out in November. I guess there are more titles available. They will look like a small black rectangle on your 14 inch portable.

eagle
I saw Journey to the Center of the Earth in 3D and it was good but the glasses made me feel a bit off. Thought the 3D effect was distracting from the movie.

I have to agree that the story, though topical, wasn't entirely original. Plenty of gungho, warmongering yanks to hate and tasty, scantily clad birds. But, even on the skanky zoom copy DVD I watched, the overall wotsit was pretty good. Ending came a bit too abruptly also.
