  4. Hello! So to keep it short and according to the title, I am looking for a nice thai girl to spend time with when i visit Thailand in December. Perhaps might even be able to return with me to Europe if relevant! I am 29 years, work as a senior manager for a conglomerate and investment company based in Europe. I have myself lived in Asia for about 10 years, however just very recently moved back to Europe (Sweden) due to my grandmother not being well. However, getting rather bored of the single life, and just so happens I love thai girls. I am looking for a thai girl, younger than me for sure, and preferably with some kind of education and interested in spending time with me when i go to Thailand. If you want to know more, send me a message!

  20. Bangkok is the 61st most expensive city to live in. Not too far behind NYC. http://blogs.wsj.com/chinarealtime/2014/03/04/shanghai-is-more-expensive-than-new-york/ I know people can eat for a buck or whatever and there are rooms you can rent for a few thousand baht per month but, really, when you look at western style accommodations and dining, this doesn't seem too far off.

  25. In my novel Thai Lies, exploring Thailand back in 1974 with my college classmate Mike, I didn’t get much of a chance to elaborate on his travel exploits into Bangkok’s night life. I had a Thai girlfriend so the only taste I got of its charms was from the stories he told. And he told a lot of them. Never mind that he was cast in a Thai movie – my girlfriend’s mom financed it – his off-screen antics were the real show. The trouble is, there is only one that, in good taste, I dare share… Back then foreigners were a rare commodity, especially English speaking ones that Thais could relate to with the odd remembered word from some forgotten GI. They’d follow you around, wanting to paw at your clothes or your high top sneakers. Kids followed you around like you were the Pied Piper. Strangers tugged at you on the streets to sit and eat with them. In a coffee shop, everyone stared. Add to that, Mike’s unprecedented status, and it wouldn’t be hard to imagine how he was eating it all up. Then there was that morning he woke up on some deserted beach, miles from the set. He didn’t remember how he got there. His pockets were empty. It was only because he had his actor’s pass around his neck written in Thai that a motorcycle jockey offered to waive his usual fare and give him a ride. Ragged with his hair tousled, he still got a round of applause when he finally showed up on the set. To the Thais, he was definitely a curiosity. His pantomime explanations alone would have rated him five star reviews. But now, for the first time, he was stuck. Payday wasn’t for another week, and he was broke. Not wanting to let on to anyone what had happened, he made excuses about being tired and wanting to get to bed early. Then the walls started to close in. The TV might as well have been static. Were all the channels in Thai? Did Thais do anything but cry for five minutes on these soap operas? And these lizards running across the ceiling, do they bite? And that damn music playing outside, who can sleep through such a racket? Finally, he gave up and went to walk around downstairs. Any place had to be better than this. Sitting just outside the hotel, he got an offer from a taxi driver that was too good to pass up. There were a lot of jewelry stores in town, offering commissions for brought in potential customers. Since Mike was already an actor maybe this would be right up his alley. He didn’t have to buy anything; just look around and act interested. Needless to say, that was what he did for the rest of the week. Every alley shop was another bottle of beer. Every avenue store was a glass of wine. By the end of the night, a midnight snack was the taxi driver’s treat. Come payday, with just one stop on the way, the ride was free. Well, he did do a few more really outrageous things in Thai Lies…

    THE SPEEDO

I like to think that I am pretty much a live and let live kinda guy. Open minded yeah ready to embrace lifes rich diversity, for sure. But this is just taking it too far. I realise that Thailand and SE Asia allows men to practise and explore their own unique fashion style, and hey if Camel active wear, socks with sandels and Snoop Dogg style gold chains do it for you then all well and good. However I have noticed over the past few years a shocking resurgence of the speedo type of swim wear in particular with large Germanic men. Saturday morning lying by the pool snoozing off a few of last nights beverages, a large man in a bright green speedo placed himself directly in my line of vision, it was like a bad car wreck I tried to look away but my morning was already tainted. Anyway for you speedo wearers out there please do the following : 1.Put on Speedo and look in the mirror. 2.Really look!!! And for you speedo wearers out there I have one question, WHY????

    North Africa!!!

Go Rebels!!! Now I'm not averse to a dictator if his heart's in the right place, but the North African's have obviously had enough **** already. And good on them. Not like it doesn't happen all over the place, but it seems that its the North Africans that've snapped first. Now all we need is for the US militias to put their balls where their mouths are and do the same. (Same for the UK of course, but we're too used to queuing for ****.)

  40. The Forest and the Fire-Keeper Louisa Willcox Posted December 13, 2010 in Saving Wildlife and Wild Places http://switchboard.nrdc.org/blogs/lwillcox/the_forest_and_the_fire-keeper.html Whitebark pine, Part 3 (See Part 1 and Part 2) Recently, a friend introduced me to a book called The Global Forest by (yet another woman) Diane Beresford-Kroeger, a botanist and medical bio-chemist from Canada. In the book’s final essay, “The Forest and Fire-Keeper,†Kroeger spoke of “fire-keepers†as keepers of the old legends, according to the First Nations, the aboriginal people of North America. In their oral tradition, the “fire-keepers†gather the wisdom and are the “keepers of the legends.†They are charged, too, with the memory of prophecy. Beresford-Kroeger related an ancient story of a prophesy for Mother Nature, the complex, intricate web of life. In this prophesy, according to the legend of the fire-keepers, the timeline of major change will happen at the time of the “great dying†of the North American sugar maples (a phenomenon which is actually happening now). “This dying,†she says, “is the beginning of the timeline of the destruction of nature.†Beresford-Kroeger goes on to say: “The rape of nature has then begun. Other trees will succumb to various infestations. The loss of forests will foreshadow a period of devastation. People will not realize what they have done, but they will continue in their path of demolition. From the peoples of today will rise another new generation of children. These children will be different from all those who came before. These children will have many gifts. They will be able to do extraordinary things. Primarily these children will have the gift of telepathy across the globe… They will understand and comprehend what their parents have done… Then the children of this generation will want to help the planet and nature in a collective way. They will hold hands across the planet in their minds. They will alter their parents’ ways. They will encourage one another. In this circle of life the children will save their parents through a dream and through a prophesy. In saving their parents they will save the planet.†Beresford-Kroeger says this legend was told orally, “before electricity at a time when the sugar maples were healthy and producing copious quantities of sap for maple sugar.†The author concludes: “The children exist. They have been taught a better mode of planetary management. The consumerism in their lives were holes of unbearable solitude. They are already reaching for something else, something elusive, something that is colorblind to race. It is called dignity, the dignity of life, all life.†Ah, just as I thought: the future of whitebark pine and what we chose to do about the current catastrophe prompts reflection on an ancient, wise concept: the dignity of life. A concept too often forgotten amidst the screaming on TV and radio talk shows, Fox News, iPods, and all the gadgets we distract ourselves with. How can we remember the importance of dignity, and put it into action moment by moment, day by day, in our interactions with each other and the land? How can we create a culture with the wisdom and compassion to save and nurture life? It all starts at a personal level, I think, with an individual commitment to a practice that keeps the idea of dignity -- for self and others -- at our core, so it becomes, over time, the well-spring of daily activities. Maybe we need to turn to and learn from the younger ones now – some, whom I have had the good fortune to meet, certainly have the wisdom that we sorely need. If we fail, what hope is there for us, the whitebark pine, and all the other species that comprise this interdependent web of life? Preserving the dignity of life may, when the story is fully told, turn out to be a core principle that all our lives depend on. O.K. children, step to the front and “do-si-doâ€! I'm thinking that the internet & 3 & 4G smart phones are connecting us together "Electronic Telepathy" maybe there will be a rise conscienceless for all life on this world.

  41. How to install your own security system - pretty cheap, too!! HOW TO INSTALL A HOME SECURITY SYSTEM 1. Go to a secondhand store and buy a pair of men's used size 14-16 work boots. 2. Place them on your front porch, along with a copy of Guns & Ammo Magazine. 3. Put a few giant dog dishes next to the boots and magazines. 4 Leave a note on your door that reads: "Bubba, Bertha, Duke, Slim, & I went for more ammo and beer. Be back in an hour. Don't mess with the pit bulls; they attacked the mailman this morning and messed him up bad. I don't think Killer took part, but it was hard to tell from all the blood. Anyway, I locked all four of 'em in the house. Better wait outside. Be right back. Cooter"

    Why women outlive men??

Why women outlive men.? Women live three or five years longer than men on average in the world, according to the Office of National Statistics. But why?..Have you say ? with men being more reckless in their youth and women choosing a better diet and more exercise. But to fully understand why the fairer sex has a longer innings in life, we take a look at the differences between the sexes. 1.Women tend to have stronger hearts A woman's heart is just as strong at the age of 70 as it is at the age of 17 A study at the university's Research Unit for Human Development and Ageing found that the power of the male heart falls by 20-25 per cent between the ages of 18 and 70. Could this be the key to a lengthier life expectancy? 2.Women have two X chromosomes Tom Perls, founder of the New England Centenarian Study at Boston University believes that the key to longer life expectancy for women is in the genes. Where women have two X chromosomes, men have one and X and one Y chromosome which, according to Perls, makes men's cells more susceptible to ageing and damage. 3. Women may have more powerful immune systems Researchers at London?s Imperial College School of Medicine conducted a study of men and women aged 20 to 62 and found that the women produced more infection-fighting white blood cells (or T-cells) than their male counterparts. Researcher's discovered that the thymus gland, which produces T-cells, makes fewer cells as people age. Yet older women still had higher levels of new T-cells than men of the same age. 4. Women tend to sleep better than men Women are much better at coping with minor sleep deprivation according to a study by Alexandros Vgontzas of Pennsylvania State University. The stresses of modern day life can often mean that we miss out on valuable sleep, which is key to good health, but it is actually men who suffer from sleep deprivation the most: Vgontzas's research revealed that while women manage to get an average of 70 minutes deep sleep each night, men only managed to ****** 40 minutes. 5. Women generally have healthier diets If you think your man behaves like a caveman - especially when it comes to his eating habits, here?s why. A survey by FoodNet of 14,000 men and women found that men are more likely to eat meat-based dishes while women opt for a variety of foods including fresh fruit, vegetables, nuts, eggs and yogurt. 6. Women remain healthier in order to reproduce The roles that men and women play in the circle of life are very different and may determine why women outlive men. Thomas Perls, a former geriatrician at Harvard Medical School, believes that the menopause protects older women from bearing children in later life and allows them to live long enough to take care of their families. Perls also says that a man' purpose is to ?carry genes that ensure longevity and pass them on to their daughters. Thus, female longevity becomes the force that determines the natural life span of both men and women?. 7. Women are less likely to be smokers Smoking causes around 18% of deaths in adults aged 35 and over every year in the UK, according to the NHS. Shockingly, the NHS estimates that 23% of men will die of a smoking-related disease, compared to 14% of women. :!:

    Feel my prostate? Eh!

I have never been for a medical checkup before and although I feel fine, one of my resolutions for 2007 is to have one done. Since there is a good number of mature guys here I thought it would be a good place to ask. 1. Is it really important to have a prostate examination done, after 40? 2. How does it feel, both physically and psychologically? (I've never been probed down there). How many fingers are used? 3. Would one be more at ease if the doctor were male or female? 4. Can one self-examine oneself? Or is it easy enough that one's partner can do it?

  48. Folks i have a question . Do Thai woman overreact faster than woman in the Western world? Let me explain what i mean so we talk about the same stuff. When Thai woman dont understand a sentence, or a question do they rather overreact instead of asking? ..or asked in a different way, do Thai woman tend to put themself quicker. Blame themsself? As an example when you chat with someone and you ask a question and maybe reask because you dont understand, as not allof us are native english speaker, not only for thais english is a second language, do they answer with I know my english is too bad. It is difficult to put the question. But is it possible that thais block quicker and blame themself rather than to answer the question or ask what you mean? Sentences like : I am not good enough for you My english is too bad I am ugly I am not Barlgirl I am too Dark come in mind that answer simple questions( questions that have nithing to do with the answer). Or is the self esteem of most thai woman really that low? That is just a question not more not less. arkon
